What's in a name?

Our name, Parable Devices®, reflects the essential aspects of our approach to serving our customers.

The prefix "para" means "alongside" or "paired with," which reflects our mission to develop innovative devices that pair with mobility devices to offer new functionality. 

​Additionally, "para" is often associated with mobility limitations, and we find it fitting to use a term related to "paralysis," a Greek word strongly associated with the population that may benefit from our products.

Furthermore, the suffix "able" in "parable" reflects our mission to help people become more "able" to navigate their daily lives.

Lastly, the word "parable" has several meanings that resonate with our values and approach. In its most basic sense, a parable is a short allegorical story that conveys a moral lesson or meaning to be understood or interpreted by those receiving it. Similarly, we believe the meaning of our devices extends beyond the physical hardware we sell. The deeply personal benefits of increased mobility, freedom, and dignity are best understood by those who experience them firsthand.
